The Cornish Music Archive
Records collected by the Cornish Music Guild [CMA/1] [Cowethas Ylow Kernewek], 1987-2015 includes original compositions 1917-2000; a collection of traditional Cornish music 1823-2000; carols and hymns 1825-1992; cassette tape recordings 1980-1993 [these recording may have restricted access]; copies of applicants compositions for Hall for Cornwall's Young Musician Competition 1996-1997; published books relating to or written by Cornish artists 1986-1998; a folder of administrative material relating to the Cornish Music Guild; original manuscripts including Old Cornish Carols collected by Thomas M Banfield; Wesleyan Methodist Chapel Music Book and a music book by Devoran Chapel Band and material relating to organist asscoations within Cornwall. Future material will be catalogued under the Cornish Music Archive [CMA/2].
|Admin history||The Cornish Music Guild was set up as a charitable trust in 1987 to promote Cornish Music and musicians and to establish an archive and information centre. The Guild became dormant in 2009 and was wound up in 2015. Some founder members of the Guild took ownership of the collection in 2015 and under a partnership agreement between Lowender Peran and the Institute of Cornish Studies.|
