Kresen Kernow offers a wide variety of volunteering opportunities and work experience placements. Whether you are interested in working in archives and libraries, are fond of family and local history, have a passion for preservation or are attracted by our activities and events programme, we have a task, project or role for you.

Anyone can apply or register to be a volunteer and no experience is necessary.  We are happy for volunteers to try out and be involved in different types of projects and tasks. We provide training, support and guidance in a number of ways to help our volunteers develop their skills, knowledge and confidence. We will work with you to find a placement which meets your needs and gives you the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our work. We also have regular social events and chances to meet other volunteers and the wider Kresen Kernow team.

We have a range of projects, tasks and roles that can be undertaken on-site (for example preservation and digitisation), off-site (for example monitoring historic sites and monuments), or online (for example transcribing copies of documents). The range includes things which can be undertaken regularly (for example at weekly cataloguing sessions) or on an ad hoc basis, when time, interest and opportunity arise (such as helping to set up for an event).
