Photograph of the inside of a creative workshop.

With World War II just getting underway, George Ellis captured ongoing life in Cornwall. This photograph from October 1939 was taken at the Wing Studio in Newquay. The studio was owned by artist Roger Whiting, who can be seen here with members of his staff. He became well known for modelling caricatures of famous people out of chicken bones he collected from a local potted meat factory, making puppets and decorative wall masks!
