Key information: free, on-site visit, 1.5 hours per class, Key Stage 2. We also offer an online exhibition.
This workshop takes inspiration from a selection of original inventories of Tudor people’s possessions held in our collections. Children examine a replica of one of our most dazzling documents, as well as a 1570’s inventory from our collections. Then, using a set of colourful flash cards created by a professional illustrator, they match the possessions to their rightful Tudor owner (using real Cornish Tudors and their possessions), providing reasons for their choices. They then have the opportunity to create their own inventory using a quill pen and ink.
Visits to Kresen Kernow
We offer free, facilitated school visits to Kresen Kernow. We are able to accommodate one class at a time in our dedicated learning rooms, and visits can last up to 3 hours. A visit will typically entail a tour of the building, including our secure strongrooms, home to 14 miles of shelving and 850 years of history, as well as a workshop on your chosen theme using original Cornish documents from our collections.
Please note: we adhere to Ofsted and Department for Education guidelines for staff-pupil ratios. For more information, please read A teacher’s guide to visiting Kresen Kernow (2021).
