Key information: free, on-site visit only, 1.5 hours per class, Key Stage 2
In this workshop children dress up and take part in their own Victorian-style portrait, after carrying out a range of hands-on activities such as examining photographs, identifying costume and exploring ‘3D’ stereographs, cartes de visite and cabinet portraits from our collections. The workshop can be used to study the impact of technological innovations in the Victorian era and is available as part of a visit to Kresen Kernow.
Visits to Kresen Kernow
We offer free, facilitated school visits to Kresen Kernow. We are able to accommodate one class at a time in our dedicated learning rooms, and visits can last up to 3 hours. A visit will typically entail a tour of the building, including our secure strongrooms, home to 14 miles of shelving and 850 years of history, followed by a workshop on your chosen theme using original Cornish documents from our collections.
Please note: we adhere to Ofsted and Department for Education guidelines for staff-pupil ratios. For more information, please read our Teacher’s guide to visiting Kresen Kernow.
